Escapades

We begin the new decade with a series of gigs entitled ‘Escapades’ performed by Colettequartet.  Each performance 'Escapade' is a one-off and focuses on a different musical genre aligned to Jazz and infuses it with new life.  Perfect for musical magpies!

The Latin Jazz Escapade

28-03-2010

A sultry evening of Latin jazz treats await at the Colette Quartet’s Latin Escapade this March.  As the weather gets a little warmer, the Colette Quartet explore the musical treasures of South America. The talented foursome will have you swaying in your seats, imagining the exotic Brazilian beaches of Ipanema and feeling the warm Argentinian air of Corcovado.  Be seduced by the aural pleasures of beautiful drifting bolero melodies, smooth, gentle bossa novas, lively sambas and sultry tangos.

The vocally accomplished Colette will bring a warmth to each song with a voice that moves between sweet clarity and darkened depths; always answering the needs of the songs. On Double bass is Andrew Csibi, who played with Havana Son, Ireland’s leading Cuban band.  On piano is Venezuelan Leopoldo Osio who brings his authentic experience from
playing jazz festivals across South America. Fiach O’Briain, one of Dublin’s emerging talents, sustains the rhythmic bedrock on drums and percussion. A group best experienced live - come and be part of the Latin Jazz Escapade.
