The Bluesy Blues Escapade
29-04-2010
Colette Quartet are exploring the dirty world of bluesy blue. This is a musical escapade that takes you on a journey with lots of pit stops through the years; from Bessie Smith in the 1920s to Nina Simone in the 50s and from Tracy Chapman in the 90s to Colette’s sultry and gritty originals of today. Songs will vary from the down-right boisterous to smooth and heart-breaking; always with a clear musical and vocal passion that serves their meaning. The evening will be sprinkled with stories from the rich musical history as well as new original music from the bands forthcoming album.
This is the third ‘Escapade’ in a series of individual shows where Colette and her band explore their musical influences and bring a fresh edge to their love of jazz. Colette on vocals will be joined by the talents of Johnny Taylor (piano), Andrew Csibi (double bass) and Dominic Mullans (drums).
